Committed Deportation Defense Legal Services

The deportation process can be complex and difficult to navigate on your own. If you have lost your immigration status, are here illegally, have committed a crime or for other reasons are involved in deportation proceedings, we can help.

J. Bruce Weinman, Esq., provides aggressive defense as well as a wide range of other immigration services to clients around the world.

Attorney Weinman has provided comprehensive immigration counseling to clients for more than 35 years. At our firm, we understand the challenges and concerns our clients face. We know the immigration system does not have your best interests in mind. We do and we will help our clients obtain green cards and visas to keep their families together.

Our goal is to defend your case aggressively and help you stay in the U.S. legally. We will be there every step of the way with you, preparing you for court and making sure you understand every aspect of the process.

Cancellation Of Removal

If you have been charged and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a deportation proceeding is likely to follow. Grounds for removal include:

  • Over-staying your tourist visa
  • Unlawfully entering the country
  • Staying in the country when you do not meet the requirements for a visa
  • Committing a crime
  • An accusation of falsely marrying a U.S. citizen

Cancellations of removal can be granted to both permanent and temporary residents who meet the requirements. For non-residents, you must show that you have lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years, have good moral character (no serious criminal convictions) and that an immediate family member who is a permanent resident would experience extreme hardship if you were deported.

In the case of a permanent resident convicted of a crime, the individual could be eligible for cancellation of removal if he or she has lived here for at least seven years and did not accrue the conviction in the first five years.

Since cancellation of removal can only be sought once, it is important to build the strongest case possible. We provide experience, knowledge and effective advocacy to our clients trying to avoid being deported.
